Eight Approaches for a Spectacular Music & Magic Show

Isn't music the universal language of love? So, including music into your live magic show will transform it into a great show, whether it's a virtual or real magic show; that's how big of a difference music can make. Do you have any ideas on how to incorporate music in your show? Well, then a few pointers on how to put on a spectacular music magic presentation are provided below for you.

Introduction to the Event

As the public enters the auditorium, picks their seat, and waits for the show to start, house music is played. If you've ever sat in a quiet auditorium, you know how uncomfortable it can be. People can settle in, chill, and converse comfortably with friends with the help of some music in the background.

Your pre-show music gives you the opportunity to impact your crowd's mood and accentuate the environment.

Overture Music

The overture harkens back to the days when opera and symphonic concerts were popular. It defines the mood and orients the audience to the upcoming show. As the overture begins in a live theatre setting, and the lights are dim, prompting the crowd to go silent. Curtains will open, studio lights will fade in, and the excitement will reach a height as the prelude closes.

Put On a Show with Music

When the music is loud and the performance is silent, this is perhaps the most prevalent usage of music in magic presentations.  This can also be used in online magic shows.

Underscore Music

The music is soft enough for the audience to converse normally, yet loud enough to bridge the gap once they go silent. Not all music works effectively as an underscore. Lyrics aren't appropriate because they'd compete with your own words. Make sure to choose music that is straightforward and consistent, not disturbing.

Sound Effects

A cartoonish audio effect can enhance the impact of a particular scene in a music & magic show. Famous magicians sometimes collaborate with the drummers to create rim shots and cymbal crashes that highlight the incredible moments in the days of a live band.

Bridging the Gap on the Stage

Every show's polished touch is to ensure that the stage is almost never left vacant. If and when you leave the stage, do something to fill the hole, such as playing music.

Music will keep the energy up when heading into the crowd to work with crowd participants during slowdown inactivity. Many magicians incorporate music to get listeners to "clap along," which helps you find individuals who are actively participating in the show.

Climax and the Changeover

Similar to how Walk-On music can help you go off to a good start, Finale music helps you perfect the landing. This music is played during the final sequence of a performance, just before the crowd is about to erupt in excitement.

It's incredibly beneficial at the end of lengthy sequences that may have had a magician in some sort of distress. The unexpected music adds to the triumphant victory feeling and signals to the audience that we are coming towards the end of the show and that this is the final act.

If you lengthen the Finale music, it will fill in any gaps when you move on with your next sequence. The music continues to play while the crowd participant is returned to their position, while you set aside your props and collect the very next item and until you return to center stage and are prepared to resume speaking. It gives the changeover a clean and flawless impression.

Concluding Playlist

‘Just as the crowd leaves the auditorium, the post-show recessional, also known as the concluding playlist, play gently, identical to the pre-show house music. However, make sure you are not playing the same playlist as your pre-show because the vibe at the end of the show is very different from the start. It's usually less motivating and therefore perkier. The audio must continue to play for as long as there are people in the auditorium, regardless of how long they stay.
